I’ve got an idea for a 2021 New Year’s resolution that everyone can keep. Make this year, the year that you start engaging on LinkedIn. Follow these 4 steps to increase your engagement by investing less than 20 minutes a week.
Here is a list of 4 things you can do:
– Customize your feed by following thought leaders in your industry or others you admire. Follow company business pages of competitors, vendors or hashtags that interest you.
– Request to join groups related to your industry, expertise or favorite cause. The larger the group the better. Being in the same group as someone else can make a cold introduction just a little easier.
– Engage with posts and articles that interest you. Start by thumbing up a few posts, this also helps the LinkedIn algorithm identify relevant content for you. Comment too!
– Build your network connections by searching for leaders in your industry. Narrow your search by geography to invite people into your network that you would likely never meet. This can help expose you to new ideas, resources and opportunities.
Commit to engaging with LinkedIn for a week/month and see what results you get. If you need more help utilizing LinkedIn for your job search, email me at jay@iwriteyourresume.com to get started.
